Came across this photo of my Dad who will turn 91 this year. For his 90th birthday we bought him a small sailboat (RS Zest) which he is using to teach his great-grand kids how to sail.

All the best,
Hein

Extremely cool. The wind mojo passed through the family is the coolest. My dad nudged me to try windsurfing. It changed everything for me.

Teaching great grandkids how to sail - the absolute best!

US 92782 !! Clearly a legend just behind 1111

I can only wonder if he avoided tenure (from his Associate Prof status). Seems to me the wind has claimed any career goals I ever had.

Very cool Hein. Add a photo with him and the grandkids cruising in the RS Zest and you'll have an awesome Father's Day gift.

Sweet!

Here's the Broadbandito slaying it on my first Bic windsurf scored from G.I Joes. Circa 1985.

My Dad was into sail boats and taught me to sail, but alas, I get seasick so I turned to windsurfing. Laughing

Classic!!

1985/1985 on the Gi Joe special

Where the addiction began

I was saving my blueberry farm work money for a full set up

Visited Go Joes and they had mismarked the $1200 set up for $120

Took it to the counter and bought it for $120

Dad loaded it on the volvo station wagon

Gi Joes manager came out to say we were mis charged
My dad said — sorry my kids too excited to appreciate your mistake

took it to the nearest gravel pit and went for it

the next year i won an Apple IIc at a computer programming science fair
Immediately sold that computer and bought an Obrien Elite 10’6”

Good times
Winging will surely create these same memories for the next generatio
Stoked to be building wing boards
after all these years
