For those of you interested in the history of the Columbia River Gorge (and kiting in the Gorge), several chapters of ONLY THE TRYING address these topics. ONLY THE TRYING is an award-winning, adventure novel set in California, Baja, and The Gorge. The book is available at a variety of online booksellers. I donate all of the proceeds to THE INNOCENCE PROJECT. For maximum charitable pass-through, buy locally from The Book Peddler in White Salmon, or from my online publisher, BookBaby. https://store.bookbaby.com/book/only-the-trying Thanks! |

Another great book is "A River Lost" by Blaine Harden. A history of all the agencies fighting for control of the Columbia. We are at the bottom of the food chain and the barge pilots hate us. _________________ moondog |

Mark Reisner’s “Cadillac Desert”. Published in 1986. The Columbia dams and irrigation policy in the NW get a thorough examination.
With the Kalamath Basin and the Colorado and historic drought in the news, this is an excellent read on the water wars in the US and the world.
Take it to the post apocalyptic, if that’s your taste, with Paolo Bacigalupi’s. “The Water Knife”
Or, Chinatown is on Netflix. _________________ Pull the cork. |
