tweaked my ankle mildly about a month ago. gets better during the week, but aggravated every weekend. i think i should add some support when kiting so it heals fully and i can stop worrying about it.
what's the best approach? athletic wrap, or some neoprene brace? worried that when these get wet they may loosen up too much and not do anything. also probably needs to fit in booties.

i gots the same problem. aggravates with kiting better with days off.... but is much better with athletic tape. i've tried most apps, tape works the best. easily holds up for a day of kiting. should get ya thru the summer.

yes sticky athletic tape, it won't unravel like ace. you won't have much ankle hair left, but hey you'll be kiting and not worrying about ankle.
get from Joes, Copelands, etc. Think i got mine from Sports Authority (bought out Copelands). They have 4- and 8-packs i think.

Gabe, 1 inch tape, get some pre-wrap and We'll hook up and i'll show you how to put it on. But you need the 1 inch tape and pre wrap. The pre wrap allow your foot to not get the circulation cut off to you foot which is most of the problem and why your foot will end up in pain after a wrap. If done right you can ride almost with a busted foot.

look for an 'air cast'... I used one for a while when I twisted my ankle playing basketball... work well, good support, and can get wet.

knees are a bit different kim. Bigger hing point and all. Women in sports are more prone to knee injury just by general make up. There was a great artical this year in Powder Magizine on women and why they are more prone to knee injuries. Alot of "agressive" female skiers I know are starting to take premtive measures and getting braces. One of the best braces I've heard of recently is from a company called asterisk. I'm thinking about switiching to them my self for the winter. I would get fitted for a knee brace like that or don joy.

it prob comes down to preference. i have used the lace up braces when playing bball for years. i tried it once for kiting a few weeks ago. not again. too bulky, gets slimy, more to catch on your bindings. i found tape to be minimalist, not bulky, gave me the perfect amount of support so don't have to worry about it anymore.

athletic tape is the way to go for sure. Shave your ankle and then google "ankle taping" and wala' you have everything you need.
Have fun and be careful!!
