PostThu Aug 23, 18 7:00 am    My board - no my board Reply with quote

At the end of May I was missing my142x42 Nash Motion twin tip and assumed I had left it at the event site. My name and number were on the footpads but no where else. I keep checking with the Port, posted notices and didn’t hear anything. While not unique -there are a couple I have seen around the event site it – is has a couple of distinguishing features.
Last week I saw similar board in use by a locally known kiter at the event site. I didn’t get a good look at it but yesterday I parked by his vehicle and the same board was in the back. I could see that the screws for the fins replaced with hex heads which I had done on my board. I use an Oceanus leash and the tether for the leash had been cut off but still on the board. (Same location) Foot straps and handle were different. But the odds would be pretty slim that the same board, with hex heads and leash attachment would appear on the same type board as the one I lost.
I went out kiting and when I was walking back to the event site the board was laying on the sand bar where again I had good look at it. I decided to wait and talk with the person who brought back to the Event Site. When I confronted the person (not the same one who had it the previous time I saw it but someone who was riding in the same vehicle) they claimed it was their board, that they had replaced the screws and that the attachment leash part was used when they taught lessons.
I asked them several times to return the board as I couldn't believe that the configuration could be that exact without the board being mine. They refused. So, I must still be looking for my board. If you see one like the one below I would appreciate knowing.

A sharpie pen would have avoided this whole problem?

Sharpie swabs off with alcohol.

Did you keep a picture of the serial number? All are unique. If that’s indeed your board, that’s how you’ll get it back.

Bingo!

This sucks. . .

I ectch my name in my board somewhere that is not obvious. Sharpie pen markings help too.

Bottomline, take a pic of your gear and the serial #'s before you take it out for a spin.

Thanks for the suggestion on the serial number - I looked on my current board -same manufacturer and model just newer - and didn't see one - I looked on the Naish site and couldn't find where it would be - will keep looking
And inventory the rest of my kiting gear, cover it with sharpie marking and see about etching the board.

The serial number is typically in the middle on the bottom of the tip or tail on TTs. It's also usually kind of an impression in to the base so you have to have the light at the right angle to read it.

Who switches out their fin screws w/ a hex head? No one I know, no board I’ve ever seen. (So then you’re at beach and asking for someone’s hex head bit for your fins if you forgot yours, not normal)... What is an Oceanus leash? And this board had that as well?

What is the possibility that this guy’s board had both of these unique things?
Slim to none, if that! I mean come on, what are the chances?

....sad truth is that shit happens, sorry to hear; equipment is replaceable tho....Sharpies are erasable and fade regardless. Only permanent marking for a board is under the laminated cover with a see-thru window, or by etching with a “punch”! If it’s still bothering you, follow up and ask where/when he purchased the board, and checkout the answer if he provides one. Gorge is a tight community, word travels fast!

Brokite puts a very obvious serial # on their boards and also a website to return lost boards that will put the owner together with the finder.

My money is on the board being yours. Unfortunately you cant prove it

Naish twin tips serial numbers are Top of the deck, near the rail, in the middle of the board.

It's one guy and we all know who he is.

He's too smart to get caught red handed but he's stupid enough that we all know who he is.

Maybe it's time for a large group of us to get together and let him know he's not welcome at the Event Site anymore?

If you have been sure of who it is, what have you been waiting for? Shocked

Lost my board at Rufus. Returned after two weeks. It crossed over to The Wall and wacked the rocks all day and night. Very scratched, but still ok, and super rad to get it back. Sorry about your board. I avoid the Event Site like a bad case of the Fook, unless I can feel that the summer babes need their fix of this here eye candy. Twisted Evil

If you bought the board new the retailer where you purchased the board they may likely have the serial # of the stock that came through their shop and maybe even ofvwhat they sold you.
