Mon Jul 18, 05 11:01 am Weekend Oregon Coast Downwinder Report |
|
|
Sunday saw prime conditions on the coast; quality wind and 7 foot swell. After adjusting down to a 12.0, shortlines, and teaming-up with Hans from Salem, launched at Road's End and landed a couple hours later in the Siletz Bay. It was so good, I'm still buzzed and I'm sittin' here in the opposite conditions; my desk this Monday morning in an overheated office, hungry, and sweating in a suit...not optimal.
Go get it. The wind on the coast looks good through at least Thursday!

So many untapped rides here on the OR coast. Nice read. . . One Q: Did you enter the bay on slack, Flood or ebb? And did you hit the bay enterance at its highest point? Sail in the Bar at all? What were the winds like? |

Hi Jim,
Good to hear about your downwinder. Sounds like a good stretch of coast. Everyone always talks about the sunset downwinder, but few venture into the unknown. There's a lot of epic coastline out there!

When you guys talk about S. Jetty which one? I've surfed Newport S. Jetty and sailed Florence S. Jetty lots - great spot for wind - but I think if you had been out at seaside earlier you must be up north somewhere? |
