Yo yo my coastal brothas, I was hoping to get an onsite report from tues and or Wednesday from fort Stevens. I'm gonna be kiting the coast(coming from hood) on Thursday and Friday. My preffered spot is fort Stevens as it's closest and a rippin good time. However if the wind is drastically lighter there on Wednesday I think I'll just hit the Newport. Any inside info would be great thanks!

Things change and Newport typically/usually has stronger wind, but looking solid up and down from Newport to Fort Stevens. Didn't check forecast for south of Newport, but probably stronger than the North.

Newport wind report
Gusty, holey, up-and-down
and that's on good days

Twisted Evil

(Not enough room to add a line about the fog...)

(PS--for a good time, check out the marine forecast for Southern OR/N CA for the next few days. Shocked )

Ft Stevens has delivered about 3 hours of great kiting in the past 2 days. On either side of that, the winds were not impressive.

At lot D on the north side, there is a hectic break that is more like Manzanita than Ft. Stevens. I am sure it is because of all the kiters dumping the Manzanita sand out of their kitebags on the beach right there. Really messed up break. Not as bad as Manzo, but sill gnarly with no room between waves and lots of different directions to those waves. Down wind, it was not like that, and the waves are "Ft. Stevens clean". I did not go upwind of the north trail as I fit in too easily with the seals up by the jetty.

The water is still warm as of Tuesday, but I expect a big change by Thursday. That long period swell forecast by NOAA did not materialize on Tuesday either.

I cant wait to see all the antics that the Hood River Rats bring to the beach!

We'll bring the babes and the shorts to wear over our wetsuits. Oh and the clueless guy mowing the lawn across the biggest and best swell. Laughing

Then "you shall be honored and thrice welcome." And many will come with binoculars and take up stakes in the grass of the sand dunes on high.

Water got cold yesterday. It will be cold today.
