Which side of the bar is the red on??????

This video is about the cognitive bias > That feeling when you spin your bar only half a revolution and go into that death spiral. It is 8 minutes.

Following nautical and aviation standards, Red (port) left and green (starboard) right. Easy way to remember is "(No) red port (wine) left".

Whatever color you decide to use, just stick with it.

Sorry, but it was a poor choice of title for this thread on my part. I guess "Cognitive Bias" would have been better or even "why it feels funny when you get on a TT after having spent a few months on a directional.

Give the video a good watchin, and maybe it will make sense to you. It may even hold some information applicable to those teaching kiteboarding.

Good Port wine has sediment in it. Thus some of it is "left" in the bottom of the glass. (the snooty way of remembering Laughing )

Reminds me a little of learning opposite side driving down under, then coming back and feeling awkward driving normal for the first 10 minutes...or riding waves switch all summer until the southerlies finally come back. Laughing

That's a cool video. I subscribed to his channel. I hate that feeling when the bar is turned around and I tomahawk my kite straight into the water. Ha. Red on the left! Just gotta always remember to spin the bar all the way.

Wait.. WTH... The bar has colors?

Sweet Jesus.. that would explain my continued super man experiences with triple kite loops. (which were all accidental) Sigh....

PS.. Nope.. cant ride the bike either....

PSS

and notice the kid looks down more so than forward... to me this is more visual functioning that feeling function.

Those LED headlamps you use up around Prudhoe Bay, Alaska when is is dark all day in the winter don't really show colors too well. Take your bar into your quarters and look at it in the light.

I think I know why you bailed on early snowkiting for somewhere that a girl in a grass skirt just comes up to you with your "mojito". Even nicer that it happens 5 seconds after you thought about possibly having a lower than legal blood alcohol content.

Boats in the channel do display red on the left side?(on the way out)
and channels markers also

Also....
"Posh" were the aristocracy cabins for the sail from England to the Mediterranean the past.
"Port" (left) out, "Starboard" (right) home

who says the boat is in the channel - may be in a safety meetin!

but we are talking bars not boats - i assumed red is R for right hand -Pacific High bitched me out for lending him my pumped up setup - which i never looked at in my life - guess if you are doing spinning stuff it is useful....

Right Red Return is a mnemonic to remind you to keep port channel markers on the right side when returning to port... Leaving port, red channel markers are on the port (left) side the same as your nav lights. If you forget to keep right red return, you end up on the rocks.

Nav lights on vessels help establish the direction the boat is traveling in and they also quickly establish who has right of way. If you are approaching a vessel and see a green starboard light. likely you have right of way. If you are approaching a vessel and see a red port light, likely the other vessel has right of way.
