Anyone travel/check an inflatable SUP? It meets weight/height limitations for 'free' baggage check with Southwest. Curious if anyone has checked one?
thanks!

I have packed mine in my duffle bag twice to Maui. Just don't go over the weight and it's all good no matter what you take !! Rented a paddle as I didn't want to take a break down. Mine was a 10'6" c-4 so it was not a small one!

What he said, just stay within the limits and you should be fine. Where will you be SUPing?

i toss the entire slingshot inflatable, bag, breakdown paddle and SUP in a cheap duffel from andy an bax- keep it under 50lbs and you are all good
fun for night shark fishing!
- also you might get lucky we found some crazy bioluminescent night paddling about 20 miles south of Tulum in the Sian Ka'an biosphere (watch for crocs tho - they get pretty big):

I traveled with Southwest and my inflatable SUP+paddle and pump in a large duffle bag a couple of times, no charge.
I also added extra straps outside the bag to keep the overall envelope tight.
Cheers

Packed my SUP with travel paddle and a gear bag with kite/bar/harness/pump... Both checked for free on Southwest! Used the SUP more than the kite this trip.

Sweet. Gray and the rains just started here in PDX. So please post some sunny pics of SUP'ing or kiting from just south of Cancun for those not so fortunate to leave the "doom and gloom".

Beautiful place to kite! Lighter winds. Foilers paradise. Saw I guy riding up and down the entire coast line. Average kite size is 10m - 15m. Saw a 17m one day too. I had my 8m! Used a big board and was able to ride down wind with it. I tell you, being a Gorge kiter pretty much sets you up for being able to kite anywhere! The SUPing is great for beginners to get used the ocean. No reefs, or big breakers. Pretty easy beach entry. Enjoy the photos!
p.s. how do you get the [quote] to display the posters name when replying?
