Can someone point me to any good spots for learners around Newport (if there are any). Talking about someone who's not quite staying up wind yet.

Thanks,

One of the spots I learned at is right out side of Waldport, few miles south of Newport, head south from Waldport on 101 about 4 miles there is a nice beach about 8-10 miles long, goes from the Alsea Bay to Yahatz. No one is ever there, and the beach is super flat, wide, small surf, very little rip.

got to the south jetty( under bridge off the south end). The rip makes it easy to stay upwind in the triangle flat spot along the jetty. The south beach is less than mile down the beach with nothing but sand between(people). South beach will be where the action is(sailors surfers...) but at the jetty u will be out of the way and as i said along the s. jetty the rip assists upwind and the jetty provides some wind shelter and radiates the heat from the sun for the saftey meetings and friends and family. Don't get stuck Very Happy

Thanks guys, is there any flat water launches on the bay there?

It's for my buddy from Colorado...he rips it up on skiis with a kite but just hasn't been able to rack up a lot of water time.
