Very professional response to an injured kiter at the Event Site today! Especially cool to see Robert, an HR Port Employee and Volunteer Firefighter, sprinting out to the sandbar.

Sad to see someone having a bad day, but it is comforting that the protocols the Port, HR FD, and CGKA have in place work so smoothly.

Moto, I can't thank you enough and everyone else. I was THAT guy. I, thank god, am ok. I'm mending a concussion and just sore around my body. I wanted to post to give a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who helped me. I feel so incredibly fortunate. It could have been way worse (my helmet saved my head). I am unbelievably appreciative to the ems, the person at the port of hood river, the Hood River ER staff and to the people the rounded up my kite and wrapped it all up.

In retrospect I should have listened to my gut that I was going be overpowered on my 7.5 at that time of the day. I was just going to get it in the air and then get a feel for the wind and decide if it was too much. But I launched it probably a littler faster than I should have in that fast, gusty wind. The ER doc, who's a kiter, said at the time I had my mishap the gusts were registering at 40mph.

I learned the hard way for me at my ability and my kite sizes to wait that type of wind out, even if you have a limited window to ride.

I'm very humbled, but much more importantly, I'm very thankful.
