Has anyone flown into Cabo with kites lately?
Apparently the Mexican Customs are on the watch for kiters bringing in gear and selling it without paying tariffs.
I heard today they are allowing two kites per passenger and three boards. You can bring more, but they allegedly will tax the heck out of you. Most people travel with three kites and two boards and that what I want to bring when I go anywhere for a kite vacation.
Has anyone experienced trouble when they check into Mexico at the airport?????? _________________ KB4C!!!!!!!!!!!!

I seriously hope note. I would imagine there are a fair number of kiters that fly into SJD bringing more than 2 kites. I haven't been down there yet this year but in previous years I've never had trouble with 4 kites, 2 boards. Where did this info come from? |

Just talked with two guys who flew into Cabo last night. One guy was hassled regarding too many kites, the other slipped through no questions asked. The guy who was hassled basically argued until he was allowed through. |

If you get the green light going thru customs, no problema. If you get the red light, things get ugly sometimes. It is all about the the luck of the lights! The classic starts today and the wind looks like it will show up! It has been light or nonexistent for the last 4 days. _________________ moondog |

I bet if you just pack 2 kites in one bag they won't hassle you. It seems doubtful they would actually unpack the kites there in customs. It probably also depends who you get. Last time I got the red light there the customs agent was a youngish guy that just wanted to chat about my gadgets, gopro, ipad etc. |

just drove down and back and heard they are starting to crack down on travellers bringing "more than just" their gear. I was questioned when crossing into mexico about my bikes. there were two of us in our van and we had four bikes. they told us we were only allowed one each. I think they might have thought we brought extras to sell. we told them our partners were flying down so they were cool after that. they really didn't say anything about the 6 quivers of kites that were packed away inside the van _________________ www.jimstringfellow.com |

Last year they did make my unpack a kite in Cabo to check it out, lots of new people at customs after the hurricane. What a pain. |

For those that have been down in LV, what's the water like and what suits were you wearing? I am headed down at the end of the month(Yeah Blancho!) and want to know what suit to bring.
Thanks

January and February I wear boardshorts and rashguard. Last year was a little colder than usual and still board shorts. I do take a shortie for bay crossings and diving / snorkeling.
That said - I was born in the cold, I live and work in the cold. Anything above 75 and I start to get uncomfortable. _________________ "I have often regretted my speech, never my silence" ~Xenocrates |

I wore my wetsuit about three times during my two week holiday. Water still feels warm but most people wearing full wetsuits. When's it's sunny and 10-12m winds it's nice to be in just board shorts _________________ www.jimstringfellow.com |
