Many thanks to all for the great info on snowkiting destinations and sites (and video links).
After checking the wind forecast at Christmas, there didn't seem to be anything great in the Rockies for the next few days and there was good wind in Norcal, so we followed the adage about never leaving wind for wind. We kited the Kirkwood area and off the backside of Sugarbowl, and even got a session on liquid water locally on New Year's Day.
We are now looking forward to a snowkite trip in late February, maybe a grand tour of Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and Utah.
