Has anyone checked the water level at Rooster lately? Is there any launchability?

They're forecasting E15-25 this weekend with balmy temps in the high 40's.

I am planning on going to Rooster on Sun.
might swing-out on Sat to check out the water level...but the forecast looks great on Sun.

If the water is too high..I'm still going to check it out...
like last fall might just have to launch from the water-ways in-between the trees by the "nudies"... and downwind-it to the stairs.., just probably won't make the girlfriend try.. Laughing

If anyone gets out before Sun or Sat...keep us updated, otherwise, I'll post.

Damn, do you really think that water's still that warm? Since Bonneville is down, I was going off what it is further west. Currently, Astoria's the coldest at 40, and the Columbia River Bar is almost 44 (but I figure that's more of fresh/saltwater mix?). Astoria was 37 the other week when I went out, but the air temps were a lot lower too.

The Dalles appears to be 2.7 degrees C = 36.9 F (Rounded up!) according to USGS:

Good Luck!

it looked like it was just a few steps deep with some help i think you could launch there but i didnt feel good about doing it solo. Viento is a much nicer launch thats less water level dependant. the only thing is it has to be blowing pretty hard around stevenson for the easterlies to reach, anybody know what the forcasted gradient is? the ponds might also be a good solution. Adam the parents have been warned im deffinitly in.

Careful at Viento, not much (any?) downwind options for bailing out, and that water is deadly cold right now... unless your this gal:

Well, being a bit more realistic, The Ponds could be a nice alternative with warmer water, but the wind looks lighter..
Anyone got a good forecast?

ya'll are either crazy or stoopid to be hoping in the river this weekend. Be safe! Think I'll go sno-kiting instead.

Yah, on second though I agree with ya. We’re heading up to SS to pick up some new kites. It’s just so hard to resist the pull of the wind....

Ponds sound good though for the weekend. What say you Barfly?
