The top three threads this morning have something to do with foiling. I just thought I would add another.
As a surfer and waverider, who has no interest in flat water or twin tipping or anything else that doesn't have to do with riding waves with a kite, I also have no interest in foiling.
Sound off if you agree!!!
p.s. please leave your "don't knock it until you try it" comments at the door |

Wow! All that energy to post a new thread and comment just to hate. You must be really grumpy and need a hug.
If your not perpetuating the Stoke, keep it to yourself! |

I didn't think it was hate, but maybe it is!
I haven't kited in five months since having back surgery, so I am definitely grumpy about that!
BTW, if you all rally around foiling, and I try to rally non-foilers, how is that hating? Maybe you're the grumpy one? |

hey pete, something to consider for your health condition.
with foiling it's much less impact on your back.
first benefit is you can use a much smaller kite and this is much less strain with the pull that probably aggravates your back.
second benefit is it gets you above the chop and there is no more jarring to your body.
just some benefits to ponder.
obviously foiling not for everyone, but for just about everyone I know who's tried it, it reignites their passion for progression.
good luck with your recovery! _________________ www.jimstringfellow.com |

It may not be for you, but it is cutting edge and keeps things fresh (i'm not a foiler, and I share the same mindset with TT's, waves, etc etc as you). Bottom line, I think it is good for the industry and others are having fun with it.

Foiling looks really fun to me. It also presents a new and interesting challenge to learn, which in my experience keeps everything fresh.
To each, their own.

Agreed, I can't believe foil will ever take over the "analog" and direct feel of being on the wave, slashing, being surged down the line, and airing it out.
But this Horue video has stuck with me and I just figured I'd share. See the final minute of the video--this guy (IMO) puts Laird Hamilton to shame the way he's handling waves (and a kite).
