That video was pretty sensationalized, "ooh scary vampire pics" followed by a pretty lame lamprey demonstration. He probably placed the lamprey on his neck in the first place.

Anyway, the pacific lamprey does exist in the columbia, although the numbers have been in historic decline.

Growing up on the Willamette, every summer there were huge die offs and the nasty things would be floating all over the place, washing up on our beaches in varying states of decay. I don't think I ever saw one swimming alive and I used to skin dive in the river quite a bit for craw dads.

I just learned that native tribes catch and eat them and the Oregon City Falls is one of the last places they can catch them in the traditional way.
