So how do we sign up for the race? The info available for this event are vague or not up to date on alot of it.

Can we get some clear cut info?

My instructors and I want to be in the race but can't find any information on how to sigh up or what???

Lots more info will be coming out in the next day or two. Also trying to get online registration set up.

Basic info:

Friday the 24th, afternoon (3 ish) Pro Mens and Women's event

Saturday the 25th all day amateur event. Groms, Mens, Womens, Masters, Strapless & Foil (if enough interest for a heat). Registration open at 9, riders meeting around 10:30 first heat at 11, probably run until 6 or 7 pm depending on number of riders.

Sunday the 26th is the Blowout if the wind is good. Somewhere around a noon to one pm start.

Tony

Strapless is Friday. Registration is day of event. You can also register for Sunday's race on Friday or Saturday at East Point in Stevenson. We are trying to get a pre registration going but that leads to trouble when people cant compete and want a refund.

Is proday still on for today? Forecast for Stevenson is a bit low. Are there backup times/days? I would love to come out and watch but there does seem to be a lack of communication.

Based on the crowd I see on the Stevenson web cam, I'd say it's on...

Agree with you Gator. The communication about this event is Lacking, from poor info on the forum, a semi-working and broken BOTG website, to no replies to emails from the cordinators, seems to make this whole BOTG event appear like a complete joke. Rolling Eyes

I planned on going and F-One wants to add stuff to the prize pool but, well....... yeah. Sad what BOTG has come too. I remember past years and it has been a blast!! Lots of stoke and people and hype leading up to it. Now I fear this year will be a very small turn out.

Sorry guys. Went off without a hitch. Tony was super busy. It was set to go off and did. Sir Sam light took first in the pros. Sorry you felt left out. Next year all will be one to keep everyone in the loop at a early stage. Don't get down on the event. Super fun time with a super fun crowd:-)!!I think the internet and Instant feedback is killing us all!

Hey now, cool your boosters there Kochease.

Some facts to be aware of about this event.

1) It is the longest running kite event in North America. It runs the same way every year. Fri - PRO Fleet / Sat - AM Fleet / Sun - Blowout. Every year.

2) It was specifically created to spotlight up and coming amateurs. People hungry enough to do what ever it takes to attend and compete.

3) It is (and hopefully always will be) a very grassroots event (ie - no reliance on big cash sponsors, flying with the support of local friends/businesses). Therefore no big fancy press releases or glossy posters and website.

4) The organizers (aka Bolstad/Gormley Clan) do this for the love of the event and have not only taken on the responsibility of keeping this event alive for all of us to enjoy, they even saved the Blowout event from it's previously possible demise years ago.

Low key, low budget, low profile, with high rewards, huge high fives and high stoke factor from everyone involved.

Although I'm not able to attend on Fri and Sat due to work, we support this event both as a sponsor and as a participant (I'm a die hard blowout fan) and will be in full force on Sunday for the ultimate gorge drag race.

always a great event to watch/participate in!
come watch the future of kiteboarding as they compete today in the amateur class.
the organizers do a great job running the event and making sure the action is non stop.
plenty of food and drinks and entertainment.
was great to ride after the event while the band was rocking the event!
some images from friday's action..
