Anyone have any insight on kiting Sand Lake or Tierra Del Mar? Is there anything there that make it worth leaving Manzo for?

Come on people. We always get these questions. Of course there are some nuggets out there that are great places to ride that you don't hear about too often for a reason; they are good, took some time researching, and SOME RISK on losing out upon a more guaranteed session somewhere else.

Get some nads and vest the time and effort and go see for yourself. And or use the search function on this website to get some intel yourself: http://www.nwkite.com/forums/search.php

And Slappysan, search the user "PKH" and "sand lake"; that will get you started on your path of self-fulfillment an independence. Don't recall the exact post, but I'd say it is in the early years of this forum. Probably between '05 and '08. My guess would be '06 actually as this seasons winds and spring and summer is similar in nature to the '06

You know what they say? "Tell a kiter where it is windy when to go, they will kite for a day. But teach a kiter how to interpret weather forecasts, conduct some research upon their own, and throw the dice a little and take a chance on exploring new spots; they'll know how to kite forever.

And there are lots of reasons to leave Manzo. Sure it is a great spot that blows all the time, but the wind is typically more onshore and the actual wave riding is short. There are better waves up north for riding waves (south too for that matter), but it isn't as windy up there or down there like Manzo.

Good winds to you and everyone on else today!

Tierra del Mar is good. you can drive on the beach and go upwind to launch where the river enters the ocean.
