Thoughts on the coast?

Thinking it will be totaled socked in out there?

Was thinking of heading to Fort Stevens, and maybe playing around on the offshore side in the pond?

Cheers, Drew Christianson

will probably be gusty mid 20's for wind and fairly up and down in-between rain showers but southerlies blow just fine in the ponds. was there yesterday. usually is a side off shore wind more off shore than on shore. get it early for the best tide and flatter water.

Yes, it will be socked in out there all week so says the forecast. But if you don't mind clouds and some rain, it looks pretty good.

I did a downwinder from Gearhart up to the South jetty on Friday. It was good to get salty and wash off the city life for a few hours! Granted the waves were all discombobulated and it was a white foamy and dark chocolaty mess of a milkshake out there; too big of swell and foamy cauldron to go more than 300 yards off the waterline. Probably the same for this week.

We were going to leave a downwind pick-up car and take a taxi back up to our launch as we only had one car and had trouble rounding others up. We ditched that plan as soon as we got on the beach and we ended up both putting on our wetsuits using one kite (9m) and taking turns every 1/2 hour. Not as fun as riding with others, but the scenario worked pretty well. The water was super warm and we only got rained on at the end of our dw'er.

Get some!
