Hey All,

Looking to see if anyone has time on the Secret Weapon. I'm looking at getting this board but am having a hard time getting sizing information.

I ride at 220lb and was looking at the 5'10 which has a volume of 30.6L Talking with a local dealer in HR they said the 5'6 with a volume 24L would be plenty of board. Figure I'm riding down there at Swell and Rufus mostly.

Looking for thoughts as I'm so far removed from being hands on.

Thanks in advance

Dan

I'd like to add a question to this topic as well - so far I've been riding TT boards only (I like to jump and try some tricks) but recently I've had a chance of trying some "surf" action at the coast and now I'm looking to get a directional to start riding strapless on lighter days at Columbia and surf sessions at the coast. The 2015 Secret Weapon caught my eye but I'd like to get some opinion about this board and how it will fit a novice in strapless riding.
(Dan - sorry for a minor hijack Wink)

No problem on the hi-jack. Ken Lucas (Cabrinha) suggested that I talk to Jason over at Big Winds, he has been on the 5'2 version of this board for a while and was super knowledgeable with it.

I do not know if he is on here, but you could call him up. I talked with him yesterday on the phone - gave me all the info I needed and then some.

I also weigh 215-220lb and ordered the 5'6" per the recommendation of our local Cabrinha Rep.

Haven't received it yet but I'll let you know how it goes.

For reference I've been riding the 5'8" subwoofer and 5'10" skillet for about a year.

stoked for the 2015 boards!

I'll probably talk to him next time I'm in HR - do you know if they have the boards in stock currently to take a look as well?

I bought a Secret Weapon 5' 6" and found it to big for me. I weigh in at 180. Rode the smaller version and it was more size appropriate for my weight. Super great board for the Gorge and especially good for learning strapless riding. Super easy and fun for jibing, tacking and learning strapless airs. Id definitely suggest the 5' 6" for your size. I sure you'll be STOKED with it!

I have ordered the 5'6 with Futures Vector 2 quad fins.
Hope to have a definite word on the status of availability by next Monday.

Sweet! Make sure to come back and tell us what you think after you get to ride it a few times!

Gotta love the service at Bigwinds!

I weigh 172lbs and just purchased a used (ridden twice so essentially a new board) 5'6" SW. The guy who sold me the board said it was too big for him - but he only weighed 150lbs so that makes sense.

I'm a bit stumped by the SW sizing though. There's only a 2.1L difference in volume between the 5'6" vs the 5'2" and one-tenth inch difference in thickness. Width is exactly the same. So there is very little difference in the overall size of the two boards. OTOH, the 5'10" SW is substantially larger - 6.6L more volume - 1.1" wider and .3" thicker - obviously for the really big guys.

So, my point is why would a rider notice much difference between the 5'2"/5'6" boards? Seems like anyone suited for one board could ride either board and be happy. And why did Cabrinha produce two boards so closely sized? Please enlighten me.

Hey All,

Finally a few sessions on the 5'6 SW. It surely lives up to it's name as far as I'm concerned. I'm riding heavy at 234 this year thanks to bad eating habits, lack of daylight and just being lazy in general.

TT riders were on 9m & 10m and flew kites a little high. I started on the twin tip and the Prodigy 9.5 and I had to fly it de-powered. After warming up I switched to the 7m and took the SW out and had a blast. Plenty of power and a few odd looks from others wondering how my fat ass was going to make that 7m work.

The board is great - the fins on it gave me a lot of drive and I opted for strapless just so I could see what I had to look forward to. Today I may put the straps on and see how that works for me.

I'm not a surfer so I am unable to throw out terms you all may be familiar with. I can say that as far as the the size of the board and my weight - the board was not bogged down at all (even with the 7m) and while I can't throw any serious turns I was able to get whip around and ride some of the swell getting in my first feel of what kitesurfing is going to offer me. Totally stoked to get out more on this board - especially after losing my winter fat Wink

I ended up going with the 5'2" since I'll be using it as a demo board here in Seattle and the early reports say 5'2" is the preferred size for an average weight rider.

I'm currently 218lbs (probably closer to 230 geared up in a winter suit) and on a diet plan to drop about 20lbs over the next few months which should give me an opportunity to compare how it rides for XL sized people and large size people.

Got out in some 7m conditions prior to the Seahawks game yesterday.

first impressions of the 5'2" are very positive!

I went with Future V2 quad fins for my setup.

This thing is like an upwind rocket ship! Easy to do strapless airs and super fun for slashing waves!

carves and handles chop better than the subwoofer 5'8"
