Hey anyone intreasted in a moonlight downwinder tonight? We are going to launch from bridal viel around 9:00 to 9:30 ish. Its a small possibly a little muddy launch only accesible from west bound I-84. East Dalton point is a better launch, however this is a bad idea anyway. We will park shuttle cars outside the rooster gate. I have never done a moonlight kite. I understand that glow sticks on kite and both sides of board are crucial. call or text me if you want to go. I will try to keep you in the loop. Thanks Tom 503-729-1786

this is insane. Count me in. However moonrise won't really hit the horizon till like 9:30, which means we don't get decent moonlight till at least 11:00. I'd like to suggest pushing the launch time till 11. Also, not having done Bridal Veil I'd prefer East Dalton.
Glow sticks: dollar store?

I was wondering if someone was going try for a moonlit kite session due to the harvest moon and the winds. Kudos you guys. Would appreciate a full report. I'd love to join you but my ability isn't quite there yet for a moon lit ride.

I was driving home from the coast last night and moon was pretty high in the sky by 9:30 ish and by ten was up fairly high. I agree the later the better however 11:00 is pushing it. As for Dalton im cool with that also. Bridal viel is closer to rooster and you could pretty much walk to rooster if you had issues. I'm flexible and only have a little bit of intreast 3 people so far.

I did a midnight session back in the day windsurfing at the hatch. Make sure you establish who has right of way cause the riders looking into the light, port tack, cannot see anything as they look into the moons light.

A tangle at night would be interesting Shocked

Unfortunately my phone is dead (waterlogged) so I'll just have to use this forum to check the timing. THere is a party at Springhouse cellar in HR with a kite/windsurf slide show I was hoping to hit, so what do you think about meeting at Dalton at 10? - Brian

I dunno, just having Kraemer and Gman on the water at the same time and then you turn the lights out?
It'd be like kiteboarding with the crazy, immature versons of Captain Kirk and Indiana Jones.

I'm game. Like Dennis, I don't know where the bridal veil launch is. I've done the dalton to rooster down winder before, though. Kite buddy Jeff says he can come along to launch kites & drive my mini van to schlep some drivers from rooster back to Dalton. 10pm @ Dalton sounds good to me.

I'm calling BS!

Us kiteboarders are just a bunch of old white men. And, the moon won't be high and bright enough until 12 or 1ish I figure. That's way past our bed time.

Let me know if I'm wrong in the morning. I'm going to bed Smile
