Nice stat find Jon. Thumb's Up

September is still solid. You might have to road-trip a little.....but you'll find the goods.

My latest west wind session was a sunny 16 meter C kite day (13m bridal kite now-a-days) on Halloween at the Kook-Bar in HR.

The east winds start to materialize in August and blow mainly in Sept, Oct and sometimes in Nov and December.

My latest Columbia session was Dec 8th at Rooster (it was a very dry Nov and December) and the water level was way down and lots of sandy/goose pooh beach to launch from.

That was the day Gman borrowed Bonetti's 5m fuel and crashed damaged the kite on the Washington side way down in that cove we all wished we could access and launch from. Gman had to wrap the gear up, and swim across the river. We eventually picked him up downstream just downriver from that view point (west bound on 84) about 11/2 miles downriver from Rooster launching area (pylon). With low waters, there is a beach down there.

it's 50-50. if it's not blowing it's usually perfect Indian summer weather - great for biking, hiking, sup, climbing.

I'll be there in 2 weeks but only have one day that I can kite so I don't want to lug all my gear across the country just to get skunked. Is there somewhere I can rent gear if the wind is up? Is it worth bringing one kite and just renting a board somewhere? What size are most people riding?

bring a 9m and rent a board from Big Winds.
you have an equal chance of it being windless, 6m or 12 m. Sorry - we don't have reliable trade winds - it's impossible to say.
Not sure if any shops rent gear - you can google/contact Big Winds, Second Wind, Windance.
There are 5 schools at the launch - maybe contact them for rental. Cascade Kiteboarding, New Wind, Brians, Kite the Gorge.
Typically shops don't rent kites, only boards gear due to the huge liability involved and the fragility of the equipment.

Thanks, I'm thinking my best bet might be to just book a lesson that includes equipment if the wind forecast looks good. I've been kiting for 5 years, but am always looking to get better. Any particular school anyone suggests?
