Just starting our new Baja rig.

When finished, in a bazillion years, it will look like this

This will make short work of day trips to Cabo Pulmo, Cerritos, etc. Hope to have it ready by this time next year.

Although further along than in this pic, it's not even close. Perhaps I'll have it done for LV in '18....perhaps.

These will help suck up the road to Cabo Pulmo for the non-wind days:

Front wheel track width too wide at 100" with the current front arms. Building new arms during these snow days to get the track width to a reasonable 94" (same range as the Class 1 buggies that race the Baja). It's been a process.

I set up a snowkite trailer for this season. Complete with propane furnace, fold down couch/bed, Led lights, trailer brakes and studded tires.

Works great for overnights and as a warm up rig.

"double-team supreme!"

A few of questions:

Does the trailer have a "side hatch" for Kyle and or for an alternate/emergency exit?

Do you have a CO2/smoke alarm in it?

Looks like you have a bunch of tools, but do you have a French Tickler in your set?

See Tenacious D 10 minute comical vid to understand most q's.

PostSat Jan 21, 17 7:21 am    Ford Transit for Windsurfing, Kitebing and Mtn Biking Reply with quote

Every fall around Labor Day, we travel from NH across the country in our Ford Transit Extended cargo van outfitted with the basics. It holds 6 windsurf boards, 4 masts, 4 booms, 6 sails, 4 kiteboards, 4 kites, the rubber, bike clothes, and 4 bikes. It's comfortable, cozy, gets great gas mileage. Our schedule is drive a little, mountain bike for the day and then drive a little and camp. Repeat, hitting all the great biking trails, national parks and visiting windsurfing folks we've met from Padre and La Ventana along the way. Last year, we drove down the Baja to stay on La Ventana for 3 months. This year to Padre, for 2 months, then to El Cuyo (where we are now--we flew here) and then back to padre before heading home in April, following the Appalachians for some good mtn biking on the way home. We love the van, all it holds, how it handles...

These snow bikes are the ticket. Going up for sale though. I'll get another next season. I have a big job coming up in Oahu so I won't have time for snow.

Just got mine! The plan is to build it out before the beginning of this year's kite season.
