Some more pictures from Maui. Janet and I took a day off on Wed. to drive to Hanah and see some of the most beautifal scenery in the world. Yesterday and today were quite windy, and Janet has been getting better each day. She was out riding back and forth, and even staying upwind at times Thumb's Up

Lou Waiman was out today. Riding with him was a surreal experience.

I see where Hawaiian has one way flights from PDX for $160.

Anyone want to give some leads for reasonable lodging and
a cheap rental car?

Onad et all. I really wish I could afford going. I have the in-law's here now. Smile I am trying to get a trip over to your backyard this spring. Smile

It is windy here now so I am going for an early morning session. Smile

Hein:
www.affordable-paradise.com

offers places all over the different islands.

rental cars depend on the availability...usually just check the different companies, I usually end up with dollar.com or thrifty.com

There are also some nice green cars..but they are not as cheap, and they warrant a weeks rent.

http://www.bio-beetle.com/maui_car_rental.htm

...pretty cool though.

The cheapest place on Maui I think would be banana bungalow...about 10-15 minutes or so by car from Kitebeach.
http://www.mauihostel.com/ but not a family place.

Dan and Tonya's last day. Dan squeezed one last sesh in. Way to go Dan!
BTW - Pete Cabrinha stopped by our table this morning at the coffee shop in Haiku. Really Nice guy. He mentioned that he'll likely bring the team out to Hood River in July. Thumb's Up

Aloha Hein, some tips from our trips out to OGG.

We usually book a place near the north shore through www.vrbo.com (Kuau, Haiku, Spreck, Paia...) and you can find great private rentals for $65 + with kitchen.

Rental cars - contact Paul at Maui Cruisers: http://www.mauicruisers.net/
for cheaper, used cars. Or, for this past trip, we found Hotwire was actually less.

Also, Dave and Suzie (Action Sports Maui) have a nice rental available at Kuau Plaza if you are bringing the family and want a 2BR near kite beach.

ROLLO: Hope your quest to kite every day of the trip succeeds - we miss the sun and had to wear hats, gloves, and jackets today. Crying or Very sad

Rollo, you are a true friend and ambassador for the sport!!! Thanks again for letting me ride your kite (and Dave for your board)!! Thumb's Up (BTW, I liked how the '07 Boxer flew. Light on the bar, good power range!!)

So I show up at kite beach our last day on the island. Most of my kite gear is packed up so we can make it to the airport on time. The wind is up and down as the rain showers are squalling through, so I’m thinking I made the right decision to pack up and not try to ride the last day. Then, the showers die off and the wind fills in. Rollo is walking out to his kite (which was rigged up since 10:30) to get ready to ride. I run out and ask him, “Hey dude, can I take the 9m Boxer out for a quick ride??” Rollo smiles and says “Sure doood!!!” I had a great session and was the only one on the water. Grabbed a quick hose off at Kanaha park and jetted off to the airport, sporting a big smile all the way.

Enjoy your last few days!!

Mahalo Rollo! You da man!! ~Onad

You guys didn't get to see one of these 15 foot hot tiger mamas that I spotted right outside Mokuleia?

Only paradise over at Maui I guess. Shit looking at the pics, I just know I live on the wrong Island. It was good here for about 3 days, and then nothing again.

yeah..its my hand on the second pic.

Yo big Mama!! Shocked Tigers really make me nervous... Confused

I saw a shark last Saturday just off the reef (in the blue water) at Kanaha kitesurfing in the break. Not sure what kind as I didn’t stay around long to check it out. Looked to be 8-10 foot, but it’s always tough to tell when looking from above.

Here’s some pictures I took when Tonski & I dove with White Tips in the Bahamas a couple years ago.

Good idea J.P.
Another option for around $95 (off season) a night this year. We really like this place but no WiFi or cable if you need that. We are directly south of Peahi (Jaws) east side of Hana Hwy.

My pleasure Dano. It was nice to enjoy Maui with friends. Thanks for introducing Dave and Susie (Action Sports). Susie offered Jodi a ride on the 6m Boxer on Saturday and she really liked it in high winds. They invited Jodi and I to Sansei for sushi that night and Janet had the same idea so we all met up after a long day on the water.

Nice pix of Jim, Adam and Paul. They’re cool guys, last year they showed Jodi and I the kite locations on Westward side. Embassy suites have a nice little break and not too far from shore though the space to rig can be a little tight.

Didn’t think the wind would blow yesterday but it did! Word to the wise, the launch at lanes can be sketch getting out windwise plus there is slippery moss covered rocks/reef. Shocked Packed it up and headed to Maalea Bay N of Kihei where it was blowing.. SW. WTF?

Well we're heading down to the beach now. Kanaha is NE 20 and holding and it’s 10:30 and sunny! Cool

Strange pattern. Got the kites up on both sides yesterday!!
