As I was pulling my 5 year old son, it became clear to me that in very shallow water (2 inches or less) the water tension on the board is drastically reduced. Why does a skimboard's friction reduce measurably in very shallow water? Is the board forced to be completely flat, creating less drag or does it have something to do with a water-cushioning effect somewhat like upwelling water that bounces off the bottom of the river and then up toward the bottom of the board? _________________ revitalized by muthu-nachu |
