how is siletz on an east wind?

I've also been scoping out the bay in Pacific City where the Nestucca Flows in. It has East/West wind possibilities.

Never ridden Siletz in east, but Jim there said it's awesome... Run back and forth the length of the bay! I might try to get out one day (need a break from finals studying Wink ). When are you thinking?

Yaquina Bay at the HMSC could be good between 9 and noon - its fickle, but worth a check on their wind guage: http://weather.hmsc.orst.edu/

It reads high - so look for 20's before its doable. But the tide is right for this weekend. Its just been so damn cold.

Tip: drive through the parking lots, and park by the EPA building.

I can't see Siletz being good on an easterly, but maybe Jim's pulled it off. The Nestucca? Awfully narrow. Alsea Bay east of the Bridge could also get good at peak high tide.

Nehalem Bay SP is actually pretty good on good Easterlies. Goto the boat ramp. Low tide to a flowing tide will keep the current opposite of the wind. If it's ebbing, you might have trouble staying upwind.

went to Marine drive and wind was more manageable ......
got out on the 7m for an hour or so.
water was do-able too.. but a snow session could have been sick too.
weirdo-shady launch though.

Sweet! Can't tell exactly, but are you a mile or two east of the 205 bridge? If so, haven't really seen a lot of people kite there. Wonder how the Airport was...

haha, Steve! I thought about shooting over there today after what you said, but the wind looked pretty weak. Nice clear day though according to the HMSC cam, eh?

chanson, here's a Google Earth shot I drew on a while back to show the PDX beach. It's probably ~5 miles west of where you were riding, so the wind's generally a lot weaker.

EDIT: And here's the only shots I have of the beach... JP and I screwing around about this time last year when the wind was a little light.

Both...Sat was little sunnier, Sun was a little windier...but both days were solid 9m to 12m with the readings in the 25-30knt range.

Looks like it's going again this morning!!
