my folks forwarded this to me:
"Kempe was kite surfing in the ocean at Jupiter Beach and Ocean Trail when a gust of wind took him out of the water. Kempe flew 300 feet inland, struck his head on an iron fence and the taillight of a BMW before striking the curb with his head, according to Jupiter police officer Kelly Sanders."

Looked gusty - mostly sideshore - must have been bad to hit a car on A1A.

Yikes. The guy is 210lbs! FLA gets some freaky gusts for sure.
Sounds like he's recovering but it was close for a while.

Florida definitely has more than its fair share of kite accidents.
