Alright, time to check in. Who got out today? I got my 30 minute, so cold I thought my face was gonna fall off session today around noon...in 30 knots...between rain squalls. Here's the view from my parent's deck in ocean park

Worth it, Nate, or not? Don't know what I'm doing tomorrow... But I also don't have a kite for 30kt+, ginormous swell conditions.

I dunno man...its easy for me to say it is cuz I'm already here, but probably not worth the drive from portland. Its cold, gnarly and fuckin windy. You have to get out between storms too...usually I'm not too particular about riding in the rain, but we've been having an abnormal amount of VERY powerful t-storms. The thunder was so loud and close the other night it knocked over the glass of water I had next to my bed. Pretty crazy shit. I'll try and get some better pictures soon. I'm all about the 30 minute survival sesh

it did feel good to get some tho,

Way to get out in the craziness.
Spent the weekend at Manzo expecting to play PS2 and drink all weekend.
Put up the 3m trainer and landboard on arrival Wed night - the stars were out (for 15 min) - then hail and an ass whipping.
Better conditions on Turkey day - 40 knots and daylight - some pics.

Friday was better - the squalls of hail hit every hour - Ankles a bit tweaked from nasty wipeout on the groundboard - amazing what power a wrist leash can generate on a 3m trainer in 40 knots - note to self - hold on next time.
Seemed like a good time to figure out the skimboard

Saturday was crazy nice - I swear we were hanging out playing frisbee (no wind in the morning) in t-shirts
The wind came up - even the dog got some.

Looks like a great session, wow! Wouldn't you know it... the day I have to leave it gets all summery. When I arrived in Seaside last night, there were 20kt NW winds. I think they'll stay for a day or so, then turn East and clear for another day or so. Should be some wind, surf or both for anyone needing to get a fix.

Sweet! Kokatat drysuit, John? If so, how's it treatin' ya out there?
P.S. - Even though you guys on the land boards were using small trainers, you aren't using harnesses, are ya? When I've had our B3 up in those conditions, I could manage playing unhooked for a while, but most of the time it was way nicer just locking into my harness with a "custom made" rope chicken loop. haha!

The chicken loop makes sense.
Never really liked the drysuit in the surf - in my kayaking days I used to get pummelled and the water would blast through every gasket. But as long as you have a neoprene hoodie, gloves and boots that overlap - it stayed pretty watertight. I wore fleece and stayed dry - might not test this in the big waves - might not make it back if everything fails.
This suit is nylon (doesn't breathe) so you sweat like a mother if its not below 50.

Cool, cool! And not that it matters, but this is basically what I did to the B3 bar too (using an '05 SS Clip-N-Ride). This one was on JP's and my old "indoor training facility," on a B2 bar rigged to the ceiling!
