1.gotta be below the knees, and baggy...(maybe tighty's for the women )
2.material should be able to move freely while not riding up/or down at the waist. at the same time needs to be quick in/out, incase of a beer-mergency. material needs to dry quickly and at the same time be thick and rugged,(no silk linens)
3.impact pads wear it counts,
4.pockets a must, shape is everything...must keep contents in, but be fairly big at the opening, for cold hands do shake a lot. and good enclosure(velcro can be a pain)
5.colors, colors, and more colors |

If you do any women’s shorts - I like mine to be like above my knees. The short ones always ride up when kiting or wakeboarding. Also could you make variety of sizes, nothing more frustrating then a cool pair of shorts and they are a size 0 or 20.
It would be cool if there was a way to integrate a plastic bottle opener maybe for beer on the beach. Maybe hook it on a stretchy line and put it it in a pocket. |

I was just getting ready to type "don't put that cheezy board scraper in the shorts pocket...it bugs..." lol ...
zipper on the pockets... and small enough to get a 28 or 29" waist for guys!
bright kite colors! |

A knife pocket with a quality knife for cutting kite lines in an emergency. There should be a loop in the pocket to attach a lanyard for the knife. Oh, and maybe a second style that's not below the knees. (For those of us with short legs. ) |

Scooter - when you get around to the new impact vest design...
Low profile, similar to Da Kine - shouldn't look like a life jacket. Main feature is a built in water bladder with a sip tube at the shoulder. Doesn't have to be big - even a little sip during a 2 or 3 hour session would do wonders for the dry mouth; especially at the coast when you get tired of spitting out salt water! |

Just make board shorts that look sick. I think looks are more important than functionality cause nobody wants to wear something that looks gay. _________________ I heart dangling |

Ok, I was gonna patent this but what the hell....
After pulling my hamstring and also reading
that tight fitting bicycle shorts help muscle
performance, I came up with this concept:
Start with some low rider tight fitting neoprene
trunks that go to just above the knee on the
inside. Not snuggy style & with plenty of room
for the goods. (I actually think that letting your
pecker swing a little helps you keep your balance.)
Now sew some board shorts over the top and add
a couple straps from the bottom of the trunks to
the inside of the shorts to keep them from riding up.
Ain't that killer? If you do it I'd be happy to
accept a reasonable royalty.

If you do that you should make the outside pair of shorts sewn below the top pairs ass, that will give everyone better style, and presagged board shorts would be sick! _________________ I heart dangling |

People have already mentioned the length/baggy issue, but just to clarify... at least 23-24" outseams for the guys! |

I'm not pissed ( I've been riding) and I'm sure there are
shorts with built in tights. Bicyclists have them. But keeping the
the outer boardshorts from riding up by internally connecting them
to the inner shorts might be a unique idea.
If you do build them (undershorts) in, remember that we guys
like to wear our shorts low so the neoprene undershorts shouldn't
be tummy huggers. That's seems to be the only thing available
as a seperate undershort.

Neoprene sewn under the trunks has been done.
Lived in Pismo Beach for a couple of years and a lot of guys wore them in summer since the water was around 60 degrees.
There was a local guy in Santa Barbara making them at the time. He said they are not patentable....and he never really marketed them too much because they were expensive and hard to sell due to all the random sizing issues.
When I worked for Liquid Force we were working with a wetsuit manufacturer to make suits with flesh colored arms and legs......sort of random but we were just looking into it.
Just cut the legs off of your wetsuit. You don't need the calf section....just fills up with water anyways. |
