Mon Nov 13, 06 10:22 am DESIGN A WETSUIT!!! |
|
|
We at ProMotion Wetsuits want your help designing a kite specific wetsuit! we have a working model right now but want more input from you!
right now we have this in mind...
4/3mm with adv wind skin on chest and arms( would 3mm be better?)
long sleeves with snug surf suit fit, not baggy like the windsurfing suits
3/4 leangth legs comes just below the knee.
?? would you wear a 4/3m with 3Q legs when its cold or should we make this a 3mm for spring to mid summer?
??any features you want or dont want?
we want this to be a suit by and for kiters!! let us know what you want!!
thanks, Derek Last edited by scooter on Wed Nov 15, 06 11:43 am; edited 2 times in total |

no back zipper.
mid calf legs or
built in drains.
no seams in the
harness area.
maybe some
extra thickness
around the
lower ribs.
lots of shoulder
freedom (-for
riding one handed
and unhooked on
the wave.)
style it so it looks
good with shorts.
Take it to the next
level. Don't let us down
with a mediocre redesign
of a pole boarder suit.

Can you make the Adv Wind Skin so its not so stinken shinny!
Maybe a mate finish?
Easy on the BRIGHT COLORS! Some times those bright colors are just too......well you know, not that there is anything wrong with that. Just not in my back yard!
And ya what Hein said.
Thanks for taking an interest. |

Love the 3/4 leg idea, will make getting into the suit easier. Probably want to stick to the 4/3 idea.
Couple ideas:
-Solid colors. No multicolors.
-Abrasive material to create friction so waist harness will resist traveling up.
-Water proof pocket for carrying GPS, mobile phone, or tracking beacon.
-Padded areas where the spreader bar on a seat harness generally presses. Just above the pubic crest. |

maybe make the leg long enough that booties would still fit over? if its cold you usually don't want any skin showing.
I like the integrated leg drains idea... I've seen eyelets added to wetsuits just below the calf muscle, I hear they work great.
I also second the idea about a grippy material to keep your harness down.
a non leaky collar would be nice. my pscho2 tears open at the collar on big wipeouts. |

How bout a hood , at the coast I rarely use it but its a nice feature.
Maybe have a ninja thumb strap for the hand.
It could cover the viens on the back of the hands keepin them warmer.
And is there no way to put a velcro fly for bathroom access or a weep hole |

...and why not a loop built into the back so
they can just hook you up if you ever need
to be saved by the chopper.
...and some more pockets for food, spare
lines and a variety of tools in case you
break down.
... maybe some bladders that self inflate
with compressed CO2.
You could call it the Kook Suit

Is there any way to put closures on the legs so that water spraying off the board does not shoot up the wet suit? Something better than the removable velcro straps- |

personally, if you're going 3/4, i say, go full. Ideally, the suit would work for both the columbia (in the winter), and the ocean. A detachable hood would be cool, and no zipper. |
