JP and I actually tried snowkiting at Bachelor for the first time back in 2003. Setup JP's old Wipi 8.4 (~12m) in big parking lot (second one), but the wind wasn't great. Probably could have made it work back then with a bigger more efficient kite..?

Bachelor snowfields (directly across the highway between the first and second parking lots) with NO wind this past January.

Across the street find moon mtn. It has some terrain thats up and down and some open space, the wind there is also the tough part. Otherwise crater lake lava fields. sled required to make things enjoyable (and wind).

NO wind??? Why is it when I ski at Mt.Bachelor the Summit is closed and the other high lifts are all crawling along at 1/2 speed due to high wind?I guess if I start bringing the kites no matter what happens the weather will be good for something.I have always liked the Mt. Bachelor snow report that has "moderate " winds going up to something like 35 knots before they call it "windy".

That Summit wind is insane... My first time boarding at Bachelor ~6 years ago we decided to do Summit for our last run of the day. Being that it was over spring break, the sun was out and you could ride down low in just a T-shirt. So WITHOUT my jacket we got on the lift and headed up. Then it got windy, really windy... and super COLD... and I wanted to die. Bottom line is it seems like there's a big difference in the wind between the base and up top... So far everything we've tried to play with down low has been fluky.

had a great day!
got some riding in on the flats of hwy140...anybody know where that is? if your more interested i'll give better details...
so there was only an average of 6 inches but since its all meadow it dosent really matter. perfect 8m winds....exept for the gusts Wink
if it wasn't snowing most of the day i woulda pulled of the cam, but photo's are coming.

i'm not sure what crater lake is looking like, it snowed last night @ 5000ft and its clear and cold tonight...which will freeze the snow.

today the snow at the meadows, of lake of the woods looked like it got rained on last night, then a sprinkle of snow....froze a nice crispy top layer which made it extremly easy to get up and ride fast!...not to mention a freshly waxed board gets em everytime=)

here's some pics, as you can see there aint but 6-8 inches...

here's the map to lake of the woods, the meadow is right off the side of hwy 140 and has a nice pull-out for parking. Lemme know if you plan on going up to crater and i'll try to make it as well.
