Hein mentioned a 5 1/2 lb board, got me interested in how much my boards weight. Wow, much more, like twice as much !! How does one go about making a 5.5 lb board ???

My lightest one is 7.8 lbs (5'8" LF) and it's a super delicate board with thin pads, lightweight straps, lightweight fins, and minimal resin. Next up is a 10.0 lbs 6'2 Slingshot BW, it's a very durable board and I use it a lot. Then my Caution Trespass is 10.6lbs, just .6 lbs more, but it really feels heavier. I'm guessing over 10lbs the weight gets very noticeable. From my riding, the heavier boards are not as lively, so I definately appreciate light weight boards.

So I was wondering, what's the typical weight of new boards now ?? Who's making the lightest production boards ?? Just interested.
