Hein-

That shouldn't come as a surprise that a crafty politician piggybacked the fiscal "fear" legislation with his own personal gain...thats what its all about anyway, instilling fear in people just enough to control them and then taking advantage of the manufactured "crisis" for you own (or government) interest.

OK, lots of topics here!

My 1992 Chevy Blazer has got well over 200,000 very hard miles on it. Other than standard periodic maintenance, I've changed one alternator. Couple of minor body problems. (The clip holding the passenger door handle needs to be replaced, as does the rear hatch lock cylinder.) That's it. The engine does not smoke at all and pulls strong. The tranny shifts great. Let's see a Toyota or Ford do that!

And don't even talk about wimpy little rigs unless you're pulling a 3000# boat over the mountains.

Chevy trucks. When you need it to last.

Obama and the democrats think they won and Reid got a little pork for his buddies....
But the real truth is Boehner outfoxed them all 10X over and they still don't know what hit them.

He made the Bush tax cuts permanent for 99% of the people and on March 1st will also get a 1.2Trillion dollar spending cuts. That's gotta make any repub happy.
Who Would'a ever thought we got a permanent tax cut and spending cut at the same time?

I was just joking about how many topics were in this thread... Very Happy BTW, if the offer is still open I'd like to talk to you about a workout program. Right now it'll just be upper body. Just doing no resistance stationary bike for the knee. I'm adding swim laps soon. Can't do any thing else lower body yet, but no reason to hold off on the upper.

Laughing LOL. I was wondering what you were talking about.

And Of course the offer is still open. Just let me know what time you are thinking - my schedule is pretty flexible.

wow...been awhile since I checked in..is anybody kiting here any more....
ah f$%ck it...I'll bite...how can you not participate in a 7 page tyranny thread in January....

I think chuck lorre summed up some of this in a vanity card.....don't get all side tracked now

"Do we get more buck for our bang at the local Post Office, Amtrak station, nuclear submarine or methadone clinic? Of course we do! But keep in mind that bureaucrats who can't find their ass with a flashlight and a hand mirror are not likely to find you either. To paraphrase Bobby McGee: "Freedom's just another word for who the hell's in charge here?!"

OT: we got a completely legit sunny nw 10m sesh at pistol yesterday chest high friendly little bastards...

OK chevy trucks one out of 100 will last... the rest.... Toyota one outta one will last forever.

Find me a Tacoma owner selling a for much less than $ 8-9000 any milage. He is underpriced.

Find a chevy at the same price, oh wait you could have 3 or 4 at that price.

Sure it does! LOL! Demand is based off popularity and perceived quality. Not off actual quality. Marketing and culture have a bigger impact on perceived quality than actual quality does. There is a huge ability of the human mind to believe it's own choices are best, even in the face of empirical evidence contradicting that belief. This thread should be proof enough of that. That's why brand vs brand on here is banned. My kite is better than yours because I bought it and I can't believe I could be wrong. Unless of course something happens that's serious enough to shake human belief. For instance: "I love Toyata trucks! They last forever! I bought one yesterday and the engine froze, but shit happens. Occasionally every make will have a problem." Next day: "Boy, am I unlucky! I returned that Toyota, got a new one, and the tranny blew up on the way home. Wow, I got the only two bad Toyotas on the West Coast" Next Day: "I'm the unluckiest SOB on the planet, can you believe that my next new Toyota blew the rear axle on it's second day?" Next day: "F*&^ing piece of shit Toyotas! Fourth one in a row died. They're all pieces of shit!"

OK, obviously that's an exaggeration, but the point is people become brand loyal for very small reasons, and only a very large reason will shake that loyalty. Of course, there are exceptions to every rule. Regardless, actual quality has very little to do with market loyalty. I mean, look at the Apple Ipad. Nice device to be sure. If you looked at the market, you'd say it's the best tablet out there. It's not though. It used to be, so people believe it still is, and because of that it's sales will dominate for years more, even if Apple continues to fail to innovate. People will believe that Android's shortcomings from last year will continue, even though those shortcomings have already been addressed. The vast majority of Ipad owners on here will vehemently disagree, even become angry at my assertion. Even without actually finding out why I made that assertion. I'm not going to get into Apple vs Android, the point I wanted to make is just to get the reaction. The reaction proves the point of brand loyalty.

So, long story short, Chevy trucks rule! Very Happy

Looks likes the feds don't like Big Beer, either.

"WASHINGTON—The Justice Department filed suit Thursday to block Anheuser-Busch $20.1 billion deal to buy Grupo Modelo saying U.S. consumers would suffer harm if the makers of Bud Light and Corona Extra merged."

Markets are not dumb, if what you said were true you should be a millionaire reselling Chevys with guarantees of Toyota reliability. Brand loyalty is earned (and squandered.)

Yes All trucks/cars are better today, but GM and Quality? I guess thats why we had to bail them out with billions... not to mention THEY were the ones who invented planned obsolescense.

I like that cartoon that started: GM: you wouldn't buy our crappy cars, so we decided to get our money the easy way. Suckers. Government Tyranny... right back on track.

You just outlined Best Kites 2013 marketing plan. They just added Lenten to the payroll but instead of getting into brand vs- brand and attempting to get something actually kite related into the tyranny I do think he will miss his reliable Toyota. Oh well......Toyota, Chevy, all the same but I'm sure the Dangler is going to have a shit fit. Very Happy

There is also the belief that people won't lie to you.

Innocent until proven guilty, you don't want to label someone as a liar.

The best part is that we actually want to believe people, even when they lie to you...
