Heyoooo,

Brave Dave and myself are planning on heading out to ID, UT, CO, or MT next weekend with a bunch of kites in search of some good snow and wind. If anybody knows where it's gonna be good next weekend and/or wants to meet up and fly some new 2013 Rally's on the snow just hit one of us up! We haven't really heard anybody say that there has been a good amount of snow or wind out East yet. Anybody have any suggestions about you might want to go try to get some snowkiting in next weekend? That isn't tooooo far of a drive? We're just looking to have a good time and hopefully get to put some kites up in the sky. I might try to see if I can snag one of the new 2013 RPMs or Turbines to bring out there too!

I'll make sure to post on here when we settle on a location but we are gonna get out of town on Friday the 21st and head East! It would be cool to see some fellow NW Kiters out thataway.

What's the link to that Camas Prairie webcam everybody always posts in here? Anyway, I wanted to get a conversation started so I could get some scouting reports and info from you guys. Thanks!

Not sure if this link to Idaho 511 will work, but here goes.

Not enough snow on the prairie to kite, but things could change in a week or so.

Hey thanks for that link man! It's nice to see some snow on the ground at least. If it dumped a little more we can probably make something work out there I bet!

onsite report from Idaho falls. Every around here is severely lacking snow but Targhee (the local ski hill) and to the east of the mountains are getting dumped on.

There are a few spots worth the drive around 3 hours east of Idaho Falls with loads of snow.

Togwotee WY by far has the most snow and is great if you get the right wind. (large open area with some natural features and deep snow)

Bondurant WY needs just a little more and it will be great (great place to glide)

Check out this local FB group for where everyone will be.
http://www.facebook.com/groups/138301539523676/?fref=ts

They're forecasting mid 20 mph wind and should snow all next week, and if we get over 3". Antelope Flats will be good to ride.

Hope that helps.

Colorado is a bit shy on snow although southern Co is going to get dumped tonight for a couple of days. Creede could be on super sweet mode. Maybe the rest of the state over the weekend. Just not much base yet.

If Southpark holds some of this snow it would be great with the west winds.
Southpark = Snowkite Dreamlandworld.

Hey thanks for all the love so far guys! I'm hoping we don't have to drive too far east because we are only going for a few days and don't want to spend the whole weekend driving. Anyway, let me know if you guys hear any more good reports. I can't wait to get out and kite! Thanks again!

Although I am not in Idaho right now, I've heard from locals that the snowmobiling has been all time above 6000' lately. If you have a sleds there's plenty of options to choose from, near Wells Summit just outside of Fairfield. If "park and ride" is you're only option, than it's not happening near Malcomson yet. Forecast looks promising next week, we'll just have to keep busy working, sledding, BC skiing, speed flying or just kiting on water still. No worries it will come. Starting to get that itch thou. I'll be out there running trips mid Jan - March as usual, hit me up anytime for onsite beta. Frankly, would rather stay here near Mt Baker as the early season skiing has been the deepest pack in snow 14 years.

Hey Brad and others! Thanks for keeping us informed about what's goin on snowkite-wize. It snowed in Hood River this weekend and it's been dumping on Mt. Hood so we are hopeful that there will be some snow and wind out East this weekend too. We have not forgotten about the square state but we just don't know as many people who would let us crash on their couch out that way so it wasn't one of our main options.

We just got our hands on some nice looking new 2013 RPMs and Turbines that I hope we get to pump up and try out this weekend. Let us know if you hear about any good forecasts/dumpings this week. Thanks!! Smile

Any wind in the forecast within a days drive of HR? I see that there's snow out there, it's dumping here in Hood River right now, but no wind that I can see in any forecasts. We were looking closely at the Butte/Bozeman area but I just don't know if we can count on the wind being there.

What are some towns in Western WY I can check out the forecast for? I don't know where the snowkite spots are in WY yet.

I'm getting nervous, but we are determined to find some snow and wind this weekend. Thanks for all the help so far everybody!
