Ski bowl is fun at night when the snow levels are low enough, but Meadows has by far the best terrain on the mtn. Now just to get Dave Rieley out.

IMO: Come on now, when the base is ample and the conditions are cold, light and fluffy, Upper bowl is the best run on the entire mountain, hands down. The fall line, cliffs, steepness of terrain. . . and the old school wariming hut at the base of Upper bowl. . . One still has to deal with the two-man old fashion chair, but it only adds to the experience. However, it only seems to only occur once in a blue moon or about every 5 years or so.

Other than that, go to Meadows for the upper sections in Heather Canyon (absolute magnitute and Jack's Woods!) and all the bowls when night skiing. . .

Come snow pack. . . Very Happy

Sasi- You said it, Ski Bowl is the hit when all of the stars are in alingment. Consistency, however, is worth the the addl $200 per pass and 20 minutes in the car.

yes, those are some seriously good tree runs in deep powder. that reminds me that snowboarding is such a better sport than flatwater kiting. too bad powder isn't more reliable. from what i have seen in videos, top level surfing seems like a much more impressive sport also, but again, more elusive. oh well, maybe kiting is just a sport of convenience and year round availability, but that is still good.

There are three local places to ride, Timberline, Skibowl and Meadow's. Timberline and Skibowl are doing a pass for $399 you can ride both resorts anytime. They are about 20 min's closer to Portland than Meadow's. The 4x4 (which this post is about) is at Meadows - you have to have a group of 4 people and then the passes are only $400 each.

List now has TWO people - need two more.

2. Twisted Evil

4.

These groups are for pass purchase purposes only. You get your own pass, and can use it any day and time that Mount Hood Meadows is open.

This is a sweet deal, and even a real bad snow (ie 04/05) year is fun - they have good rail set ups, kickers, pipes etc. So jump on it while you can - we need to do this by the end of the month.

If any of you want to ride hard, and push your limits - lets car pool up. I have some good secret stashes up there I can share. - C

PS - I'm not quite right in the head, so I'm 'twisted'. - kind of makes me want to hit a couple of kickers with Dee Snider screeching in the back ground - kind of. - C

Thanks for the reply, I was wondering if anyone would clarify. I was up at meadows a few times last spring and noticed snow kiting potential, is there any other spots that might be better(on the mtn)?
so i guess i am wondering if anyone snowkites around here and can provide some first hand info and/or go ride?
thanks

I don't really think Meadows is all that great for snowkiting. Seen it done a lot more over at T-line, though JP and I have had an okay session at Meadows. T-line just has a lot more space up high - Magic Mile to Palmer.

Last year we hiked to the top of Vista (Meadows) at ~8:00PM, were rigged ~9:30, but the wind was all over the place. On a 'bow' kite you'd probably be fine, but that night we just used my Fuel 11 on 4 lines with wind ranging anywhere from 10 to 30. Definately don't want to deal with that when you're skating on a sheet of ice.

Best place I've seen near a resort (looks wise) are the snowmobile fields across the "road" from Bachelor. JP and I got out there last year, but the wind just didn't want to cooperate. Apparentely snowmobiles have to stay on the trails, leaving huge areas of untouched powder for us!

Bachelor snowfields!
