What music would you like to hear next time you watch an awesome kite video? Any suggestions, songs, links?

I like it mixed up some. Ya know - maybe a rasta beat for a mellow wave session. A little hip hop to suit the freeestyle, and ramp it up with some hard core stuff for the adreneline section. - irr - maybe thats just too cliche. -C

How about specifics like artist, song name--

I've used Crystal method's "high roller" before. I like the song on Len10's kiteboarding mag video but I don't know who it's from. I also like the music from Cabrinha's Xbow videos-- don't know who that is either.

Anyone know stuff from "story of the year?"

here's the new single from atmosphere:

nowwadays for me its all about international, old time and delta blues (and the occasional thrashing riff from jack White), prob not the best kite vid music though

i saw your last video at the portland home grown vids contest months ago, can't remember the name of it but they premiered 'burn to shine' issue 3. any of the issue 3 bands are on the bleeding edge

My band in Newport "Chance Planet" has a few tunes that I've thought would go good in kiting or surf video. Here's a fairly low fidelity recording of the track "Triple Nickle". If we ever do produce a better CD I'll be happy to share it.

Death metal and hip hop loses its flavor pretty quick for me. I like the idea of mixing it up and going with the flow of the footage. I thought The Who's Teenage Wasteland was a great tune for the opening of Spare Change.

Good Luck with the project.

We were watching Spare Change again last night (slingy surf dvd), and it has some really cool music that you normally wouldn't associate with kite vids. Especially like the The Who ("Teenage Wasteland"), and the drums during the Tahiti wave riding.

Songs that have a good mix of rock and softer interludes are good for mixing up footage. I think its cool when riding footage gets mixed with shots of people hanging out, rigging gear, having fun on the beach, whatever. Of course the riding is what we want to see, but its good to have a mix.

Rap seems to go well with waves, kickers, and sliders... I don't know why, it just does.

Smashing Pumpkins have a couple of killer tracks that I'd love to put on a kite video, but I ain't telling which ones (I am saving those for when I put something together.) Twisted Evil

JK - that animation vid is cool, what kind of software do you use to do that?

Using others' music causes potential copyright infringement issues if you're doing anything commercially with this video. That's why using local bands who are looking for exposure and who agree to the use of their music could be a good way to go. Support your local musicians!
