i went out to pacific city to get a repeat of my goodwind sessions... crazy high tide... i looked at an old prediction table, +8.6...wow...the water was coming way over the beach wall...the beach was pretty much buhbye.... anyone else on the coast around 2:30pm witness this? how was manzanita?
ps... this resulted in like 5-6 foot breakers at the shore.... death blows. |

Manzanita was off da hook. There was definitely less beach than I've ever seen. We launched further South and there was only a bit over 100ft of beach there at 3pm. However, there's always less beach there than by town, but not that little. We were probably missing over 100ft of the beach...it also contributed to awesome waves and HUGE fields of butter smoothness between the waves by the beach.
Good times were had by all |

Hell yea, the tide was waaaaaay high! I was down in Newport (Beverly Beach) and Lincoln City (Siletz), Friday night though yesterday and the tide down there was +9.2-9.4... which is like the highest it ever shows. And that swell was some of the biggest I've seen for this time of year too. Unfortunately the wind wasn't cooperating and I was super underpowered for my two little sessions on the 11m. |
