Windsurfer trapped in fishing net near The Dalles

THE DALLES, Ore. -- Sherman County sheriff's deputies had to take to the water Tuesday to rescue a woman who got tangled in a fishing net while she was windsurfing on the Columbia River.
The sheriff's officer got a call Tuesday afternoon saying the woman was waving her arms and screaming for help from the river.
One deputy had to direct the sheriff's department boat from shore because white-capped swells on the river were so high, it was impossible for the rescue crew to keep her in sight. But deputies were eventually able to reach the woman and get her untangled.
The name of the woman was not released. |
