Seeing as the gorge is on fire, does anyone think that Rooster or the airport will be kiteable around 3-5 pm?

That'd be cool if PDX went... I just don't feel like driving very far today! Wink

I agree, I don't feel like driving too far today....I'm going broke just on gas money..My budget is looking slim...Huummm...Gas money for kiting or beer money..? Tough choice...Anyways, PDX would be nice, since I live right on NE Rocky Butte and work near NE Columbia...And it looks like wind is picking up....

Got out to Lyle yesterday with JP and got reversed skunked towards the end of our sesh. Solid high 30's with gusts into the 40's! Even with that, it's still better to be on the water though, I guess...

looks like east winds might prevail this weekend so a rooster rock session might be in the cards. it could be the best of both worlds: a good kite session close in with less gas consumption and more beer intake.

Decent 7m wind for me (9m for JP) at PDX this afternoon (~3:30-6:00). It was a little up and down, but definately still rideable. Too bad that beach sucks ass. Cut the total shit out of my foot on a piece of glass buried in the sand! Twisted Evil

Man, Rooster Rock was going OFF today. Guys were in survival mode on 5-7m kites. We made the call and did Home Valley to Stevenson, which was great. Real powered on the 9m most of the way. That little cove just East of Stevenson had butter smooth water with some seriously nuking wind. You could boost like a MOFO out there. Couldn't stop boosting to save my life Very Happy I got blown away into the sky on one of the jumps (I was definitely in paragliding mode for a few seconds sine waving the kite back and forth) and shattered my previous height record set on an Octane even though I was riding an '05 Diesel, which doesn't jump worth crap. Crazy Shocked

Anyway, awesome day out there today. Hope everyone made it in safely. More tastiness to come this weekend Smile

Don't know about Sauvies... haven't been out there lately, but Tucker said he had his best sesh of the year out there the other day (whatever day Ruben was out) so who knows.

And as for directions to the PDX beach. Here's a Google Earth shot that I drew on a while back... You can actually park on the Columbia side of Marine Drive, if the spaces are open (just to the west of the beach).
