Location(s): North Oregon Coast, Day 1 20kt, 5 ft surf
Lower Columbia River, Jones Beach, day 2. 25-33

Riders: John 215, Wally 200, Rainier 190

Bar Pressure pulling in
1. Rebel (most)
2. Instinct
3. Waroo

Turning Sensitivity (fastest to turn with the least amount of input)
1. Waroo
2. Rebel
3. Instinct

Speed thru the window
1. Waroo
2. Rebel
3. Instinct

Pop (‘explosive’ up) *
1. Instinct
2. Rebel
3. Waroo

Glide
1. Instinct
T 2. Rebel - Waroo
3.

Low End
?!?... need more testing... it was tooo windy

Top End
? Inconclusive… no one was blown off.

Catastrophic Inversions Leading to swim in**
1) Instinct, Inverted while crashed on the water in waist high swell, and bridle wrapped on the wing tip
2) Rebel, Inverted by whitewash on the inside at the coast

Riders comments.

The Instinct:
Needs a stopper
Rear pig tail needed an extra knot closer to the kite
How Do you relaunch an Instinct (?!?)
Slowest of the bunch to turn
Smoothest of the bunch

Rebel
Need to retry with correct 07 bar
This kite can hurt you…. Snapped 2 5th lines on a blown kite loops

Waroo
Still the one to emulate!

* All riders had no issues getting any of the three over 40 ft. Feelings, they all jump well however radiciaul different and require tweaks to ones technique

** Sorry boyz & girls, the Waroo never inverted… I even drop the L./E pressure to 8 psi Razz

TO BE CONTINUED!!!

J.P., you should compare the 9 Rebel with those two, it is very different from the 10. 9 is faster with noticible difference in pop vs 10 Rebel. 9 jumps better as well. The 9's seem to be the best kites of the range from the various companies. 07 bar will make a difference because of the amount of throw but you can set 06 bar up the same. When you let go of bar on stock 06 set up kite still has some power (back line tension) and has more of a tendency to behave badly when down in the water-will more readily "houdini" or invert. Increase the amount of throw and kite is a different animal when down. Hope that makes sense. Very Happy

According to Ken Winner there were a few early release 06 bars out there that have lighter 5th lines than would be ideal. Sounds like this might be the case with those lines that broke. 07 bars will not have this problem-North's new line construction is bomber. Shocked

luv to, got one?

My intent is to remove variation in the comparison.
UrbanSurf.com only has the 10 at the moment.
