@ Jim: Anytime you want to try it... I'll be back in town Wed. Maybe after the Stevenson cleanup on Saturday? I really liked my 13m Rev; I wouldn't even consider putting it up now. The Rally is that much better. Faster than the 13, better low-end than the 15, better jumping, fewer struts, just better! |
lol, sorry I don't mean to be arrogant about it It;s just so much more fun more people have one. Can do the casual races that way.
Are you bringing that kite over here? You can definitely have a go on my board too.
Kodiak: What do you think of the board? Did you get to try other race boards as well?

I haven't actually been out on it yet. No wind really to give it a whirl. I'll post some feedback after I ride it.

nice, you'll see in the beginning it's pretty hard to not go upwind on it. It takes a few sessions to get used to it, try with the backfoot in the middle in the beginning.
Once you get that you'll discover the key to good performance is the tacks...the hardest thing I have ever tried to learn in kiteboarding.
then...order tickets to Oahu and come over for the summer races
Sorry if I am saying obvious things here....

Prospects sound good. I'll have to try one at a sauvie desperation session |
Yes! I had a 14M T2 & T3 and the Rally is much more fun to fly and has the same low end. You might have to work it a little more at the lowest wind, but it turns faster and is lighter so you don't care. You'll be jumping and having a good time. Also, the 27M lines make a big difference when you're down at marginal wind speeds.

I need a new kite and the 2012 Rally is on my list. Slingshot describes the Rally as a "three strut design Open Delta C", but to me it looks more like a bow kite than a delta (Bandit, Kahoona, Wainman).
How does it compare to a traditional bow or one of the other delta kites? Has anyone flown all three (Rally, bow, delta) and can describe how the Rally compares?
Thanks
Bill

Arrow head point in the center of the LE, Mellow C LE configuration, Sweep Wing to small squared off wing tips. All of this help give the Rally the OPEN/Delta- C tag line. Look at the enclose photo to see what I'm talking about. NO PULLEYS! Super short bridle to give the kite the most direct, stable, rangy platform available.
*the Longer the Bridle sits away for the LE the more spongy and less direct it is... This is the reason you see all Slingshot kites with the most minimal and tight to the LE configuration out on the market! that no Marketing BS either...
The Bandit is the closes of those kites to compare. The Waiman and Best are more like the new Slingshot Z!
