Sun Feb 06, 11 10:09 am Please no more long intros on kite videos |
|
|
Does anyone else find it annoying when kite videos have like 2 minute long intros that don't have any kiting.
Take 15 seconds or so to show the setting of your vid, and then show us some freaking kiting!
(Oh yeah and I admit being totally guilty of doing this when I made videos ) |

...footage from inside the car on the way to the kite spot, usually of some really crappy scenery, with some crap on it, in a bowl of crap, mixed in with some more crap, and then with crap sprinkled on the top of it, sometimes in fast motion cuz the author knows it's crap.
And is there some rule that says you have to use head banger music with lyrics that order the listener to worship satan?
Not to be picky or anything...jus sayin...

Lol, I recently reposted a video that I wanted to share and found to be pretty cool initially only the intro included a shot of the inside of the car and the dudes reving up on coffee prior to the the sesh. Appears a little too mortal It made the viewing a little bit uncomfortable also, so I ended up deleting the repost. I can agree with you guys. Yea, and the death metal is ok if some MAJOR shredding is taking place, some videos might sync better with some Kenny G or Enya soundtracks... |

Totally! No more insides of cars and shaky scenery wizzing by, shot through the car window! Lets start a petition... Also, no more hip hop beats, it just forces me to mute the video then. Death metal is fine though. _________________ Take the red pill... |

Agreed.
The formula:
2:00 vid w
30-45 sec of kids acting like they're in 6th grade,
30 sec of logos floating on black screen, 30 sec of lawn mowing,
10 sec of tricks or wave rides,
45 more sec of logos on black plus the rest of whatever lame song they laid it over....
kills it, no flow in that... |

Amen! I thought I was the only one. I will ad my pet peeve as the super long time lapse intro. The sun setting and stars coming out. All of which seem to be shot in Cumbuco. _________________ "I don't believe in doing work that I don't want to do in order to live a life that I don't want to live."

I feel your pain. It's mind-numbing.
BUT, I feel like we're getting rid of 'the pizza guy' part of the video. It's cheesy, uneccesary, but damn it if it isn't part of the whole package.
I think it can be annoying to, but I think I would miss it if it were gone.

Prime example. Almost a full minute before we see any kiting. Thanks for putting yourself on the chopping block. _________________ "I don't believe in doing work that I don't want to do in order to live a life that I don't want to live."

Holy shit. I just watched the Hatteras video.
Nevermind. I take back everything I said earlier.
2:00 before we see anything. This isn't a pizza guy walking into a room full of naked girls. It's just two minutes of watching him stand in the doorway wondering if he's at the right address.
(BTW, thanks for posting your own video as an example. Well played.) _________________ --------------------------------

I think the only detriment to video productions now-a-days is the go-pro. If I see another video with more than 2 seconds of it,.... it's bye bye. Keep that shi* to yourself.
(sorry stringy- I mean no disrespect, you're shit is always cool-- and especially since you pioneered the mount and you're doing your job) but for the rest of you... you've been warned. Go pro is great for still pics, and **maybe** for self-improvement/progression. Not so good for others to view...

i have to disagree
ive seen some good go pro edits, but it is definitely all about comin up with the right angles and keepin it steady
though, 90% of the stuff that i have seen is not that good
with that said, i think that they are good for web videos and such, but maybe not for a feature |
