Well, I just got off the phone with the State Police and Brad Degart from the region 9 ODOT office.

The no parking signs were installed today.

The police officer was very cool and relayed that the really didn't mind people parking there but at times there were upwards of 20 cars there and people were parking on the shoulder of the road and creating a safety hazard. ODOT contacted OSP and told them there was a problem and they were going to install no parking signs and that the OSP whould issue citations accordingly.

Brad was also very cool and realized our concerns over access issues. He spoke at length with John Eckart? about possible alternative access points.
But for now, ODOT would appreciate people complying with the no-parking signs.

Sad

The name John Eckart sounds so familiar but I can't place it. Is he part of the CGKA?

CAN WE HAVE A MOMENT OF SILENCE PLEASE???????? Sad

My beloved felowship of Kiters and pole smokers, we are gathered here today to remember a friend, a friend that has been good to us, a friend we will miss. One that was kind, yet had a firm hand. One that was wet and one that was dry and hot. One with a rocky hard candy shell, yet has a soft sandy middle......one that.................................all right I'll stop. Sorry for being a smart ass.

It really was the number of cars that did it. The ODOT guy said he stopped on a sunny saturday and he counted 28 cars. He ordered the no parking signs the next week and sent an e-mail to the OSP.

all you SS users will just have to schlep it over to Dougs...it the RR hasnt shut it down yet. same wind, but the launch is a bit more difficult. if the water drops like it usually does in late summer there is a large 'sand bar' at dougs that would be great for kiting.

Just because you can't park there doesn't mean you can't kite there. It likely means fewer people will use the spot.

You can walk there, bike there, get dropped off there, hitch hike there, float there. While none of these are as easy as driving, most are doable.

So the cop admitted to you they're not applying the law evenly across the board.

very good...

similar events occurred before dougs & rowenia existed.. look to your not so recent history to see how those two spots 'played out'.

Hike there, bike there, kite there ect.......the guys right, we in seattle have to pump up a boat, catch a ride, bring a boat or other wise catch a ride to jetty, mabey it will weed out the hardest of the hard core? What homey is suggesting isn't really all that out of the question. However, I'm too lazy to do it, doesn't mean others can't! Rolling Eyes

I told my newbie buddy about the ss and he was bumming. We both really dug that place and it was almost vacant every time we went out there. SO he says, come over to my house I have the ansewr to no parking.

Homee scored his brothers 10' aluminum boat and trailor!!! I can tow it behind my matrix and it will open up all kinds of spots!!!!

Where's The Dalles boat house? Is that a boat ramp? Is it closer than the Rowena one to SS?
