Got a toss from an indian who was picking blackberries with his daughter at the little beach near the John Day slick. Had a great solo sesh on my 7 popping monster raleys and S-bends off the standing swells at the edge of the slick. But I under-rotated on one and hurt my foot. I hobbled onto the tiny beach but nowhere to put down my kite. For some reason I decide to tip toe up the little path through the blackberries up to the grass with my kite overhead. At the top of the path is a big sycamore tree. Just as I step onto the grass, a line gets snagged in a branch and my kite dives over the tree. I let go and the bar shoots out of my hands and up in the tree. My kite loops over the tree and comes down hanging upside down on the other side. I disconnected my kite and grab a long stick to reach my bar and pull my lines through the branches. I've got ice on my foot and it will be OK. Great story Hein ! Glad to hear that everything survived. Not sure if you read my Sauvies story post, but its comforting to know that s****y things can happen to even the most experienced riders.
