Some of you have seen me around shooting a kiting story for Portland Monthly...it needs to be captioned today. Here are the photos, please help me caption them. Amery is the kiter in the silhouette shots. I'm talking to Amery about himself, but if anyone has anything good to say about him, this would be a good time.

I also need a little background info about the kiting in the gorge for an intro paragraph. If there's anything you've been dying to tell Portland about kiteboarding this is your chance. Some history would be great, I'm also trying to figure out what companies design/test in the area, some info about pro riders coming here, how gorge wind happens, you get the idea.

The catch...I need all of this done tomorrow morning, so I need all of your input today. If you provide me your name, I'll try to quote you as best I can in the magazine.

How about Holy "Over Photoshopped/Saturated Images" Batman!!!

Actually... nice images Stu, just a wee bit heavy on the saturation/curves button, and Amery probably will be your best bet for captioning ideas. The rest of us will just end up making funny captions that probably would not be suitiable for print.

What do I have to say about Emery? He taught me how to kite 4 years ago and sent me out on the water WAY over powered and I believe it was for his personal ammusement.

Seriously though, without sounding uber-gay I think that Emery should be an inspiration for many kiteboarders. The guy absolutely SHREDS on the water but no matter how good or bad you are, he always has a smile and "what's going on" for people, and is completly humble about his talents.

Often times, its hard to find people that who are that good at a sport and still don't let it go to their head. I say kudos to Emery, he is one guy that definately gets it.

Usually I use my own cheapo (but effective) calumet monoblocks or, if I need it, rented Profoto battery stuff.

Thanks for the compliment!

At the sandbar on my 8m when a giant gust hits. I lean against it and my chicken loop line busts. The kite tears away so fast that the plastic leash buckle just explodes. The kite lands somewhere near the HR bridge.

Amery (on a 10m!) motors down to drag it in! Shocked Very Happy

I named my 2nd born after him. (Spelled a little different.)

Pretty much exactly one month from now it will be on the shelves. Right now the new cover story coming out is "summer food" (which, proudly, I shot). So, keep your eyes out for the one after that. Not sure what the cover will be on that one.
