may I suggest a "Mid fat"? Something along the lines of a Volkl Mantra or a Line Prophet 100.

One thing I see happening to Tele-turned-Alpine skiers is the failure to "match" their skis, remember to keep your feet roughly shoulder width apart and right in line with one another. DO NOT LET ONE FOOT LAG, keep 'em parallel! Matching your skis will allow you to flex the ski in the right spot, increase "snappiness" and help you bring them edge to edge faster. Oh, and remember your weight goes on the outside ski not the inside like it would in a tele turn.

Come by the shop and demo some Prophets, I think you'll really like them!

Ended up with Prophet 100's @ 186 from Pepi and crew. Hope to get them mounted soon and see how they fare compared to my "formally fat" and short K2 Super Stinx at a whopping 70 under foot.

Sounds like some good suggestions from the NW folk. The AC50 is a good ski but kind of an old man ski. And the Voile's are good, especially the Drifter. Still more B/C oriented than I would prefer. If I was going to slap some tele binders on an Alpine ski, which I have done countless times(and won't happen ever again BTW), I would mount up a pair of Lib Tech Freerides. That ski rules!!! Carves, skis pow, does everything you mentioned. Get a pair. My garage is full of Moments, DPS's, Bro Models, Fishers, and various other skis for the Wasatch. I really want to add a pair to my quiver as well.

Thinking Volkl AC50 in 177, but they are kinda spendy. At least on tele boards/bindings, I found that anything more than about 85mm under foot really does not carve very well.

my 2 cents.

You have skied a long time and will know when you ski in them.

The only way to actually know is to ski on them. Here (Steamboat) we have a rental yurt half way up the mountain where, you can rent and switch out as much as you want - so you can try a lot of skis in one day. It generally becomes very apparent what you really, like really fast - then go up and down in the length on "the ski".

You are probably right about the width - 80ish - if you want at great packed ski that will be pretty good in powder and crud. I'd go 100ish - if you want a great powder crud ski that will be pretty good on the packed.
