can i cut this thing off (thingy arrow points to)? i don't get why its there but it gets in the way thanks

It's there to lock the chicken loop into your harness. I wouldn't recommend cutting it off until you want to ride unhooked.

Yes, cut that thing off if it gets in the way. It is a crutch and people rely to much on them and you need to know how to fly your kite unhooked. As you have probably found out you stay hooked in just fine without it.

actually i can't stand crashing, thrasing around in the water only to suddnely realize that im not hooked-in and the kite has lifted me out like superman's famous water take-off scene.

before i had my very own DD i used a zip-tie, and attached it to the hook-part of the spreader bar and...oh screw it i'll go get a pic to show...

short enuff that when in a emergency situation, it will slip out just by pulling back on the bar (normal unhook). what i like about this option is that when you dont want to be hook-d in, just turn the zippy.

yeah my 13 bar didn't have it (got used) but it does come unhooked now that i think about it. i just noticed it on the 17 bar yesterday and was like, something is different here. thanks for the info!
