Two days in a row makes me tired in the early season thats for sure. Six hoursstrait thurs-plus a mini 3+ hour sesh fri. I was there I saw blowby doing some bad things to those nice 12 foot faces, and maybe a 18+once per set or two. Its hard to stay on a big wave and take more and more turns on it , instinct is to beat feet out.

I LOVE SUMMER and KITING at he beach Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

You guys better shut up about Florence.
I'm going to come down and drop in on
your ass. And I'm bringing 1/2 dozen kooks
with me.

Enjoy, but don't gloat -especially on a forum.
you'll be Soooooorrrrrrrrry.

Just my fucked up advice.

Hey I am straight up with people, I tell them I heard the best kiting hands down is at ft stevens, that thins them out. The rest the big waves and current straighten out, the only left overs are the fools I see out there all the time. It will never be the hood, and it is no secret wind junkies have seasoned there for years.

River troll's honey hole on the coast was extra sweet yesterday. All those gusty conditions went way south or east to the gorge.

Back at it again for some DWs w/Slither this afternoon. Come join. Pm me or Slither . . . Sunset down to the honey hole for high tide at 4pm.

Goods winds to all. . . Very Happy

I think the 3+ hour drive from P-town and 4+ hours from the Hood is the real filter. Especially when Newport is closer by an hour and it's often blowing when Florence is good (and when it's out of control at Florence then Newport is often better).

When I see guys from HR out there they seem to rip up just fine.

Florence can be a real gamble. It can get nasty fog, or so windy that 200 lb men are lofted by 6m kites. But yeah, it's often really sweet.

I don't think the P-town guys have it rough though. 45 minutes to HR and 15 to SI. And 90 minutes to Mt. Hood. And 60 minutes to Bob's Hole. Sounds good to me.

Lots of "Gorge Guys" have spent years and years down there surfing, windsurfing, and more recently kiting... Plenty of very very good wave rippers lurking around this hood that don't fear 12 foot walls... Hein is one of the guys who can drop a-bombs on both the windskipperin and kite gear. Please be nice when we do show up in your line-ups, and we promise proper respect... Will be getting the kitewave 5'2" soon, and look forward to meeting the Florence crew...

Jon

PS: Couple of shots from da River from a mini sandbar sesh this afternoon. Yard work kept me from heading somewhere decent for a longer session. Finally someone took moment to point a camera at the camera guy...

Just heckling the coasties. Gloaters!

I've been watching the graphs and you've been getting it good.
I sure hope the temps on Ikitesurf are reading low.

Guess now I'm going to have to get some thick rubber and head
down there to get a proper spanking. Did somebody say honey hole?
That's more like it.

Great to see a healthy dose of riding going on. And the kite paparazzi
hot on the trail.

But where is the sandbar? I'll bet that the river is hungry for boards.
