Mon Apr 03, 06 1:14 pm Custom One-Pump system for $10 in parts... |
|
|
of course you need to have the extra air nozzles on your kite!
This is a condensed version of a post over on the WindWing forum...the info was too good to let it get buried - http://www.windwing.com/FORUM/forum_posts.asp?TID=725&KW=gbgreen59
I ordered all the parts as listed below and it took about two Sopranos episodes in front of the TV to put together The system is holding up after 4 times and a couple of hard water crashes with the kite. You will need the little nozzle end caps that come with many of the one pump tube systems, otherwise you will have to find the right diameter tube to retro fit these into place...probably find it on this website if you look - just make sure to figure out the right size. Here's the info for the other parts.:
Web site for parts is www.mcmaster.com
(type in SKU number into search tool to retrieve parts):
5031k12 Pinch Valve: 1/2" $3.37
3184k1 Silicone Tubing (Thickwall soft) Inside Diameter 1/4" 5 feet approx $1.47/foot
7130k53 UV Tolerant Cable Ties 100/pkg $3.49

Pretty cool! Just out of curiousity, what would ya do if you only had one main inlet/outlet valve? Add another right next to it for your center strut?

I put this on all Rapture2 kites,a nd it is working well for me so far. It does need the extra air valves next to each tube though like Colby said.

J,
Did yours blow out...even with the ties wrenched down?

With the set up like that I have not had the ties blow out. That being said though I have only flown each of my kites once or twice with the set-up and haven't really slammed the kites hard into the water yet.
