anyone up for a roadtrip to hatteras in early may? the general rundown:
1. last time i looked, pdx into norfolk, va, $235.00 RT; then
2. 90 miles to avon, nc. shared lodging in one of the outer banks 6 bedroom monster beach houses: about 60-75 bucks a night;
3. reliable wind, epic downwinders, waves or slicks, flat water in the sound: priceless.
my daughter and i are flying in on the 5th of may, out on the 13th, rental car sharing is a possibility for those interested.
pm me if you have any questions

or you could go to Padre...
Southwest has flights to Harlingen (soTX) for $240RT
You can get a hotel there for $30-40 night. I think
Advantage (off airport) has good rates on rental
cars. Pretty sure a few folks from around here will
be there in April. May might be a little warm but still
good.
Just an alternative. Hatteras would be fun too. Last edited by Hein on Thu Mar 23, 06 8:12 am; edited 1 time in total |

Denise and I go to Avon every May. Be sure to bring your whole quiver. BTW, it's definitely not too hot in May. I recommend bringing some neoprene. Two years ago, the water in the Sound was 80 degrees, but last year, it was about 10 degrees cooler and felt like the Columbia. We get there on May 13th.
