Tue Nov 10, 20 12:44 pm Coastal downwinders later in the week, anyone? ;-) |
|
|
I'm not sure which day (Friday or Sat) looks better for a downwinder? Anyone?
Look at it Thursday to Friday. . .
Thursday
S wind 20 to 25 kt. Wind waves S 5 ft at 6 seconds. NW swell 6 ft at 10 seconds. Chance of rain.
Thursday Night
SW wind 10 to 15 kt. Wind waves SW 2 ft at 5 seconds. W swell 7 ft at 8 seconds. Showers likely.
Friday
SW wind 35 to 40 kt with gusts to 50 kt. Combined seas 30 ft.
Saturday
SW wind 25 to 30 kt with gusts to 45 kt. Combined seas 38 ft.
If you go wave watching, be careful, and give yourself plenty of distance from the waves. |

A buddy of mine in FL contacted me all worked up about the 10’ waves associated with the hurricane that just came ashore there. I told him about the local marine forecast and the 92mph gust measured at Cape Foulweather overnight, and gently reminded him that PNW meteorologists call this a “storm”.
Safe travels to anyone at sea during this... |
